Cadbury's Works Railway engines Nos 10, 1 and 6, photographed on Saturday 4th March 1961. The houses in the background are probably in Elm Road, which is part of the Bournville estate, built by the company for their workers. All three engines were built in Bristol, Nos 1 and 6 by the Avonside Engine Company in the 1920s, and No 10 by Pecketts in 1955. No 10 was the last new steam engine to be built for Cadburys. All three were coke burners, coke being considered less polluting than coal in a food factory. They were withdrawn in 1963, having been made redundant by diesels. No 1 has been preserved for posterity, though not at Cadburys.
