View of Nechells B Power Station's step-up transformers which supplied the electrical network with electricity at 132,000 volts. These transformers were installed in alcoves, separated by blast proof walls, directly below the controlling switchgear. A railway line was provided parallel to the building and raised plinths constructed to facilitate the rail delivery of these large and bulky items. This picture was probably taken during the final construction stages of this power station, circa 1952.
