A Class 46 at the head of a train of 33 HTV wagons loaded
with coke approaching Bordesley Junction on 31st January 1984. Despite being a
little later than our 1970 time line, we have included this photograph because
it shows the exchange branch falling away and curving to the left in order to
join the former GWR Snow Hill to Paddington line. A product of Derby Works,
D164 was delivered in April 1962. It was in service for over 22 years and
withdrawn in November 1984. It was scrapped at Vic Berry, Leicester at the end
of 1986.
