Birmingham New Street - Southern Approaches:
lnwrbns_str3085
View looking north towards Saltley with Brickyard Crossing
Signal Box seen on the right on 10th July 1955. The canal passing from bottom
left to mid-right was the Birmingham and Warwick Junction canal. The MR line
from Camp Hill can be seen passing beneath the former L&BR line on its way
to Derby with St Andrews junction being behind the photographer. The level
crossing served a number of brickworks present in the late nineteenth/early
part of the twentieth century, including Garrison Farm Brick Works and
Britannia Brick Works. The sign just visible on the factory beyond the London
to New Street line has the legend, 'GEC Domestic Electric'.
