LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

LMS 4-6-0 Patriot class No 5902 'Sir Frank Ree' passes through the station at speed on an up express. The Patriot class locomotive is seen in nearly new condition and minus the smoke deflectors which were very quickly fitted to all members of the class. Rebuilt at Derby from a Claughton in November 1930 it was later renumbered by the LMS as No 5501 and renamed 'St. Dunstan's'. It remained in service until it was withdrawn from Upperby shed in Carlisle in September 1961 and was scrapped the same month at Crewe works.
