LMS Route: Rugby to Tamworth

Atherstone Station: lnwr_ath1276

An unidentified ex-LMS 4-6-0 'Black 5' is seen at the head of an up express train comprised of coaching stock painted in maroon and cream as it approaches Atherstone station. The caption described the photograph as showing the 'rail and road links' into Atherstone. Careful inspection of the three houses seen to front and slightly to the left of the road bridge would seem to indicate that this location is where the A5 bypass was late constructed as seen on Google's map - see below:
