LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Lichfield

A 2-car Gloucester R.C.& W. DMU, later TOPS class 100, leaves Butlers Lane for Lichfield circa May 1965. At this time Lichfield City and stations to Four Oaks had an hourly service to and from Birmingham New Street for most of the day, with more frequent trains during the morning and evening peaks, but no trains on Sundays. In addition there was an hourly service between Birmingham New Street and Four Oaks, the trains using the bay platform there to turn back. This service pattern remained basically unchanged until the Cross City Line timetable was introduced in May 1978. Andy Lawton
