LMS 4-6-0 5MT 'Stanier Crab' No 2977 is seen on the up relief line with a pick up freight with a train made up of wagons mainly from all four companies circa 1939. Built at Crewe works in January 1934 No 2977 remained in service until June 1966 when it was withdrawn from Heaton shed on the Mersey to be scrapped during September 1966 at Bird's of Long Marston near Stratford upon Avon.
