Ex-LMS 8P 4-6-2 No 46204 Princess Louise', a Princess Royal class locomotive, is seen on an up express train near Bulkington circa 1955-7. Most of the coaching stock is still in BR's original maroon and cream livery also known as 'blood and custard' a livery replaced by lined maroon as it was more practical to keep clean. Built at Crewe works in July 1935 as No 6204 it remained in service until October 1961 when it was withdrawn from Edge Hill shed near Liverpool to be scrapped in May 1962 at Crewe works.
