Ex-MR 2P 4-4-0 No 522 is seen ambling along the up slow line on a Stafford to Rugby local passenger train as an express approaches on the up fast at speed circa 1947. Built by Sharp Stewart in December 1899 No 522 remained in service until October 1955 when it was withdrawn from Crewe North shed to be scrapped at Crewe works.
