Close up of image 'lnwr_hw3614' showing the down line platform showing signs of the station falling in to disrepair, the most obvious being the station signage. The Permanent Way hut previously seen in image 'lnwr_hw1516a' has been removed whilst the previously groomed embankment is no longer neat and tidy. The top of the retaining wall to the path running up to Hamstead Road has been painted white whilst the gate at the top appears to be closed. This might indicate that the photograph was taken in the very early months of the Second World War prior to its closure on 5th May 1941 when passenger services on the Monument Lane and Perry Barr North Junction section was withdrawn.
