Close up of image 'lnwr_hw3614' showing an unidentified ex-LNWR 2-4-2T locomotive arriving at the up platform with just one passenger waiting. Further evidence that the photograph was taken not long before closure, possibly even in the first year of the Second World War, is the lack of paint being applied to the station's signs together with some of the lampposts being replaced with lantern styled glass. The top of the retaining wall on the pathway to Hamstead Road has also been painted.
