The Coventry Electric Tramways Company's 3 foot 6 inch gauge electric tram service was extended to Bedworth on the 12th December 1895. The introduction of public transport, particularly buses with their frequent intervals, started to make in roads into the numbers of passengers using stations such as Longford & Exhall and in this instance saw the station close some fifteen years prior to others on the line.
