Ex-LMS 6P 4-6-0 No 6151 'The Royal Horse Guardsman' is seen in a filthy condition as it picks up water at Newbold Troughs on an up express service in July 1948. The locomotive is still carrying its LMS markings on the tender and LMS number on the cabside and smokebox door. Built at Derby works in June 1930, one of the twenty locomotives ordered as part of the second tranche of Royal Scots built by the LMS, No 6151 was then rebuilt post-war with the 2A tapered boiler. Remaining in service until January 1962 it became the first of the class to be withdrawn when it was put in store at Staveley GC shed until August 1962 when it was officially withdrawn from Darnall shed in Sheffield to be scrapped in August 1963 by Crewe works.
