LMS Route: Rugby to Tamworth

LMS 4P 4-4-0 Compound No 1120 is seen spraying water over 5XP 4-6-0 Jubilee class No 5722 'Defence' as they storm through Newbold Troughs on a down express in August 1937. Built at Horwich works in October 1925 No 1120 remained in service until June 1959 when it was withdrawn from Llandudno Junction shed to be stored at Llandudno until August 1958 and then Spondon Junction shed before being finally scrapped in August 1960 by TW Ward Ltd of Killamarsh. Jubilee No 5722 was built at Crewe works in August 1966 and remained in service until November 1962 when it was withdrawn from Oxley shed in Wolverhampton to be finally scrapped in July 1963 by Crewe works.
