LMS 5XP 4-6-0 Jubilee class No 5578 'United Provinces' is seen at the head of a down express service as it passes over Newbold Troughs in August 1937. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in September 1934 No 5578 remained in service until May 1964 when she was withdrawn from Newton Heath shed in Manchester to be scrapped during November 1964 by TW Ward Ltd of Killamarsh.
