LMS 6P 4-6-0 Royal Scot class No 6149 'The Middlesex
Regiment' is seen passing over Newbold Troughs at the head of an up express
service in August 1939. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in
December 1927 No 6149 was rebuilt with a tapered 2A boiler after the Second
World War and in this new form remained in service until September 1963 when it
was withdrawn from Longsight shed in Manchester to be scrapped during November
1963 by Crewe works.
