LMS 6P 4-6-0 Royal Scot class No 6152 'The King's Dragoon
Guardsman' is seen at the head of the up Carlisle to Euston express service in
August 1937. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in August 1927 as No
6100 'Royal Scot' it exchanged its identity with No 6152 in order that the new
locomotive could take its place on a tour of the USA. After the tour no attempt
was made to reverse the change of identity and so as No 6152 she remained in
service until April 1965 when she was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle
to be scrapped in July 1965 by Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Co of Inshaw
works.
