LMS 4-6-2 Princess Coronation class No 6223 'Princess Alice' is seen on the down 'Mid-day Scot' passing over Newbold Troughs in August 1939. Built at Crewe works in June 1937 No 6223 remained in service until October 1963 when it was withdrawn from Polmadie shed in Glasgow to be scrapped immediately by Crewe works.
