A policeman stands guard over the scene of the accident which occurred at Leek Wootton on 11th June 1861 to a Leamington to Coventry empty mineral train. The crew, George Rowley from Preston in Cumbria (sic) and the fireman, John Wade from Weedon in Staffordshire both died in the accident, which is not surprising as the tender is literally on top of the footplate.
