LMS Route: Trent Valley Line
Shilton Station: lnwr_shil1606
View of Shilton's main station structure which was sited on
the bridge that carried Church Road over the Trent Valley line. The patterned
brickwork, fascia detail to the front part of the roof and the doorway which
has been reduced in height, provide an insight that the station would have been
viewed as having some prestige despite the architecture not being as ornate as
the first railway stations. Note the 'Shilton' and 'Station' signs, apparently
formed in stone, over the pair of windows either side of the entrance.
