LMS Route: Trent Valley Line

LNWR 4-4-0 Renown Class No 1940 'Trafalger' pilots LNWR 4-6-0 Claughton Class No 2395 'JAF Aspinall' on an up Liverpool and Manchester express circa 1922. The Renown Class locomotive had a very short working life being built by Crewe works in April 1921 and withdrawn as LMS No 5170 in November 1929. The Claughton Class locomotive No 2395 was also built at Crewe works in September 1916 and was renumbered by the LMS in February 1927 as No 5346 which it carried until it was withdrawn from service in February 1935.
