LNWR 4-4-0 George V Class No 2370 'Dovedale' approaches
Shilton at the head of the up Irish Mail service circa 1922. Built by Crewe
works in July 1915 No 2370 was initially to carry the name 'Ashbourne'. The LMS
changed its number in September 1926 to LMS No 5409 and in the 1930s placed it
on the duplicate list as No 25409 to release the number for the new Stanier
locomotives which it carried until it was withdrawn from service in July
1937.
