LMS Route: Trent Valley Line

Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5MT No 45198 is seen on the slow up goods line on southbound mixed freight service on 5th September 1957. The station was to close less than two weeks later but whilst the timber forming the rear elevation is now missing a few timbers the platforms remain neat and tidy. Built as LMS No 5198 by Armstrong Whitworth in October 1935, this 'Stanier Black Five' was renumbered as No 45198 by British Railways in December 1949 which it carried until September 1967 when it was withdrawn from 8F Spring Branch in Wigan to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge.
