LMS Route: Rugby to Tamworth
Tamworth Station: lnwr_tam1248
LNWR 2F 0-6-0 'Cauliflower' class No 143 is seen standing in
the yard in Tamworth's goods yard as the fireman opens the tool box on the
tender circa 1922. The piles of ash lying at the rear of the tender would
indicate that some remedial work to the fire was required probably relating to
poor quality coal clinkering up the firebox. Built at Crewe works in April 1902
No 143 was renumbered by the LMS as No 8617 and remained in service until
August 1933 when it was withdrawn to be scrapped by Crewe works.
