 Ex-LMS 6P 4-6-0 Rebuilt Patriot class No 5521 'Rhyl' passes through Tamworth on the down Liverpool service on 17th May 1948

Ex-LMS 6P 4-6-0 Rebuilt Patriot class No 5521 'Rhyl' passes through Tamworth on the down Liverpool service on 17th May 1948. Built by Derby works in parallel boiler form in March 1933, No 5521 is seen in rebuilt form having been converted at Crewe works in November 1946. Renumbered by British Railways in August 1948 as No 45521, the locomotive was to remain in service until September 1963 when it was withdrawn from 8F Springs Branch shed in Wigan.
