LMS Route: Rugby to Tamworth

LMS 5XP 4-6-0 Patriot class No 5505, later to be named 'The
Royal Army Ordinance Corps' is seen on an up express parcels service circa
1939. Rebuilt at Crewe works from a Claughton class locomotive in July 1932, No
5505 also carried the name 'Wemyss Bay' before being later named 'The Royal
Army Ordnance Corps' and remained in service until December 1961 when it was
put in to store at Upperby shed in Carlisle before it was officially withdrawn
in June 1962 from Green Ayre shed in Lancaster to be scrapped in August 1962 by
Crewe works.
