LMS Route: Grand Junction Railway

Looking towards Perry Barr from the Aston end of Witton station's up platform on 5th August 1930. The railway was carried over Brookvale Road by an underbridge which was located at the Perry Barr end of the station's platforms. However the official access to the station appears to have been via Station Road which ran at right angles to the line (on the left in this view) which in turn was off Witton Lane at a point almost opposite Aston Villa's football ground . N.B. On 2011 maps the railway is shown crossing Witton Road with Brookvale Road being and extension of the same road several hundreds yards away from the station.
