Looking south towards Aston shed and the junction between Stechford and New Street station on 23rd March 1962. On the right, behind a timber rail controlling direct access to the platform edge, is the door of the hydraulic lift that provided access from road level to the down platform. A notice warning passengers only to use the subway to cross between platforms is evident at the end of both platforms.
