Close up showing the bridge carrying Long Acre over the
railway and the start of the four track route to Curzon Street. The doubling of
the route from Aston to Curzon Street starts adjacent to the shed as is
indicated by the points seen alongside the bracket signal. The up and down fast
lines are on the left whilst the slow lines are straight on as reflected by the
bracket signal; the taller arms always being dedicated to the most important
route. On the right is a Permanent Way hut which was used by the P & W gang
responsible for checking and carrying out preventative maintenance for this
section of the line. The hut, normally built out of heavy timbers or sleepers
has a brick built chimney and extension too.
