Ex-LNWR 2F 0-6-0 'Cauliflower' No 8559 is seen standing on one of the roads in front of the shed in the late 1930s. Built as LNWR No 458 by Crewe works in November 1900, No 8559 was renumbered twice by the LMS, as No 8559 in September 1927 and again as No 28559 in December 1943 when it had to give up its number to a Stanier 2-8-0 locomotive. British Railways renumbered it again, as No 58415 in September 1950, which it retained until November 1953 when it was withdrawn from 8D Widnes shed to be scrapped by Crewe works.
