Ex-LNWR 4-6-0 Prince of Wales class No 25685 'Persia' stands fully coaled and facing towards the shed on 4th April 1936. Built as LNWR No 2276 at Crewe works in April 1916, No 25685 was renumbered by the LMS in February 1928 as No 5685 and then again to make way for the standard locomotive classes being built from the very late 1920s. When this photograph was taken No 25685 only had a few months left in service being withdrawn in August 1936 to be scrapped by Crewe works shortly afterwards.
