Ex-LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scot class No 46144 'Honourable Artillery Company' at the head of the 4:30pm Birmingham New Street to Euston express on Sunday 15th June 1958. Mike Christensen writes, 'for your information, the photograph shows an up train approaching Lavender Hall bridge, between the up distant and up home signals at Berkswell.' Built as LMS No 6144 in November 1927 by the North British Locomotive Company, No 46144 was rebuilt with a tapered boiler in the 1940s and lasted in service until January 1964 when was withdrawn from Crewe North shed to be scrapped the same month at the adjacent works.
