LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

Ex-LMS 0-6-0 4F No 44395 heads a New Street to Leamington Avenue local service on the up line of the Berkswell Loop at 17:45pm on 5th June 1959. Interestingly, at the time the photograph was taken No 44395 was allocated to 5D Stoke shed so it had presumably worked a Stoke to New Street service before being it was allocated to a trip to Leamington Avenue. Built as LMS No 4395 by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in October 1926, No 44395 received its British Railway's number in May 1949 which it retained in service until December 1963 when it was withdrawn from 8F Spring Branch Shed in Wigan to be scrapped. Alan Searle used a Zeiss Ikonta 120 camera producing a 2¼" square negative.
