Ex-LNWR 2F 0-6-2T 'Coal Tank' No 58916 is seen shunting coaching stock on the middle road between Platforms 3 and 4 whilst on pilot duties on 15th May 1948. Allocated to Monument Lane and having just acquired its new British Railways number, No 58916 was built at Crewe as LNWR No 417 in October 1886 before becoming LMS No 7759 and then No 27519 when it was added to the duplicate list. Its long working life was however very near to its end because in October 1950 it was withdrawn from Abergavenny shed to be scrapped by Crewe works.
