British Railways Standard Class 4 4-6-0 No 75009 pilots
British Railways Class 5 4-6-0 No 73016 arrives at Platform 10 on the 8 am
service from Newcastle to Bristol service on 27th August 1960. Built at Swindon
in October 1951 Riddles 4MT No 75009 was to receive a double chimney in October
1962 as an experiment to improve draughting and remained in service until
August 1968 when it was withdrawn from Carnforth shed to be scrapped in
November 1968 by GH Campbell of Airdrie. Riddles Class 5MT No 73016 was built
at Derby in September 1951 and it remained in service until December 1966
before being retired from Weymouth shed to be scrapped in December 1968 by J
Cashmore of Newport.
