Ex-LMS 6P 4-6-0 Rebuilt Royal Scot class No 46120 'Royal
Inniskilling Fusileer' stands at Platform 9 with a named service to Bristol in
1949. The Royal Scot class was still a novelty on the Midland side of the
station although they were frequently to be seen on the LNWR Wolverhampton to
Euston route. Built as a Fowler parallel-boilered locomotive by the North
British Locomotive Company in December 1927 No 46120 was rebuilt with tapered
2A boiler when the boiler was life expired and remained in service until July
1963 when it was withdrawn from Crewe North shed to be scrapped in October 1963
by Crewe work.
