The Royal Scot class was still a novelty on the Midland side of the station although they were frequently to be seen on the LNWR Wolverhampton to Euston route. Built as a Fowler parallel-boilered locomotive by the North British Locomotive Company in December 1927 No 46120 was rebuilt with tapered 2A boiler when the boiler was life expired and remained in service until July 1963 when it was withdrawn from Crewe North shed to be scrapped in October 1963 by Crewe work.
