Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 Jubilee class No 45738 'Samson' newly
resplendent in Brunswick Green departs Platform 1 with an up express to Euston
on 9th July 1954. Built at Crewe works in November 1936 No 45738 was to remain
in service until December 1963 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in
Carlisle to be scrapped in February 1964 by Crewe works.
