British Railways Type 4 1Co-Co1 D267 is seen arriving at
Platform 5 with empty stock to form the 12:10pm to Blackpool Central on a
Sunday in 1964. Standing at Platform 6 is another Type 4 class member D125
which had just taken over from D87 an express to Newcastle. The rebuilding of
the 'Midland' side created a number of operational problems including the
diverting traffic from the West Country via Camp Hill and Gloucester Junction
to enter New Street from the East. In this instance, D125 has been coupled up
to the opposite end of the train to D87 in order to depart by Worcester Street
tunnel.
