Ex-LNWR G2A 0-8-0 No 49361 heads a SLS Special past New
Street No 1 Signal Cabin on 22nd June 1963. Originally built as LNWR No 1289, a
Class B four cylinder compound locomotive in September 1903, No 49361 was
rebuilt as a two cylinder simple G1 Class in June 1921. Having been renumbered
by the LMS as No 9361 in August 1923, No 49361 was again rebuilt as a G2A Class
in September 1938 in which form it remained until December 1964 when it was
withdrawn from 2F Bescot shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great
Bridge.
