Ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 44942 is seen leaving Platform 6 with
steam leaking from the steam heating pipe on the bufferbeam as it heads the 12
10pm express to Manchester on 19th March 1954. Built by Horwich works in
December 1946 No 44942 remained in service until two months prior to the end of
steam being withdrawn in June 1968 from Lostock Hall shed to be scrapped in
January 1969 by Drapers Ltd of Hull.
