Ex-LMS 'Porthole' 57' Brake Third M26959M is seen in 'Blood
and Custard' livery at New Street circa 1956. John Shelley writes,
According to Volume 2 of Jenkinson & Essery's Illustrated History of LMS
Standard Coaching Stock, it was one of one hundred and twenty-five carriages
built to Diag 2161 (Lot 1506) at Wolverton works in 1950. Their running numbers
were 26881 to 27005. It is believed that all were in BR's crimson and cream
('Blood and Custard') livery when new with post-war (BR type) torpedo
ventilators.
