LMS 3MT 2-6-2T No 15518 is seen standing at the West end of Platform 2 at the head of a New Street to Wolverhampton local passenger service. To its right is LMS 4P 4-4-0 Compound No 1172 standing at Platform 3 with a north bound express service during the early 1930s. Built at Derby works in April 1930 No 15518 was later to be renumbered by the LMS as No 19 and by British Railways as No 40019 before it was withdrawn from service in December 1959 from Willesden shed in London for scrapping during May 1960 by Stratford works. Compound No 1172 was built by the Vulcan Foundry Company in November 1925 and it remained in service until July 1957 when it was withdrawn from Rugby shed to be scrapped in August 1957 by Derby works.
