Birmingham New Street Station
Midland Railway Locomotives: lnwrbns_pg1965
Midland Railway 2-4-0 No 8 is seen standing at the West end
of New Street station on the siding between Platforms 4 and 5 whilst waiting
for its coaching stock to arrive circa 1920. Richard Foster notes in the second
volume of his four-volume history Birmingham New Street - The Story of a
Great Station that the locomotive is carrying a number 2 shed plate
indicating that the locomotive was based at Burton-on-Trent shed. Note the
square boxes with discs to the front which are LNWR rotating shunt signals and
the standard LNWR channel point rodding alongside of the track by the
locomotive.
