LNWR 0-6-2T 'Watford Tank' No 972 is seen at the West end of New Street station at the head of a local service whilst standing under Paxton's glazed roof circa 1908-14. Immediately below the smokebox door the circular covers to the piston-valves can be seen and below partially hidden by the bufferbeam are the inside cylinders.
