Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1777
Looking along Station Street towards Worcester Street and
the former Midland Railway's parcel offices with the entrances to the station
on the left on 14th March 1962. To the right of the entrance are the lean-to
shelters used by tram car passengers up to 4th July 1953, the last day of
services in Birmingham. The road surface has subsequently been resurfaced with
tarmac hiding both traces of the tram rails and the cobbled road surface. Its
noteworthy that every vehicle in this photograph, none of which are parked in a
restrictive area as there isn't one, was designed and built in England. The
lorry is entering the former Midland Railway's parcels offices.
