Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1782
Looking from the East side of Queens Drive towards the
central section of the station approach with the Midland portion on the left
and the LNWR portion on the right. The footbridge over Queens Drive linking the
two stations can be seen beyond the remains of the girder that once carried the
canopy and marked the end of the covered section of Queens Drive. The No
Parking in Drive sign is clearly being ignored indicating that motorists
had little fear of being booked. Until the appearance of Parking Wardens in the
middle 1960s it was the responsibility of the Police to issue parking tickets,
motorists were not then the target of government to raise extra revenue through
issuing parking tickets etc.
