View from the Wolverhampton end of Platform 6, formerly Platform 3, showing the station canopies over the platforms and Queens Hotel towering above on the left. Unlike the extension the original station had few passenger facilities and buildings on the platforms after the roof was dismantled the station always had a bare and desolate air to it. The timber buildings on both platforms were for station staff to use for storage etc. on the left between Platforms 4 and 5 can be seen one of the ramps to the subway. C1950s
