An unidentified rebuilt ex-LMS 4-6-0 Royal Scot stands at Platform 3 on an up express whilst on Platform 4 an unidentified ex-LMS 4-6-0 stands at the head of a rake of coaches carrying British Railways new 'blood and custard' livery. The photograph shows that the canopy over the two bay platforms was part of a single structure with the roof being constructed to allow the smoke to escape from the open centre portion.
