Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str1848
View of New Street station's No 3 Signal Cabin under the
LMS' ownership showing various modifications including the erection of a clock
above the cabin. The other obvious differences is the addition of sides to the
cabin, which the LNWR have made use of by placing adverts on the sides over the
passenger footbridge, as well as the removal of the arches over the top of
steps. The steps leading up to the passage way through the hotel has two 'Keep
to the Left' signs on the central handrail. The provision of a four-sided clock
is an obvious improvement to that seen in image 'lnwrbns_str1857a' as is the provision of what
appears to be a tarpaulin covering the lever frames and walkways. As there
would not be an issue regarding inclement weather within the roofed station it
can only be assumed the issue was bird droppings.
